How to get an optimal scheduling solution from binary GA

I am trying to use binary GA for optimal appliance scheduling and electricity cost minimization. I am getting good results if i just consider one appliance i.e. every run gives almost the same cost solution and narrowly varying schedule.If i have multiple appliances i dont get an optimal solution at all. Every run gives a wide varying solution for both cost minimisation and scheduling. Any idea what might cause this??
