Matlab 2012b offline installation problem

Hi there,

I am trying to install MATLAB 2012b on my PC (windows XP). I am installing using a CD as the PC is not online.

When I run the installation it crashes at 45% during installation of the image processing toolbox 8.1, with the error message...

'Error detected while installing images_demos_common. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)'

Has anyone else had this experience, or know what the problem is here?

In my experience, this has been a bad/defective/scratched disc, a sign of impending hard drive failure, or a CD drive going bad.

I'd try

Cleaning the disc and re-trying
Copying the contents of the DVD to the hard drive, and running the install from there. (If you hit the CRC error again during the copy, the cd is bad -- but you might be able to skip the file)
Running chkdsk on all hard drives -- if you get errors, back the machine up ASAP.
