Stateflow onramp does not start

I am running R2019b on a Windows10 pro machine (academic license, VPN connection). I managed to start the stateflow onramp training yesterday and finished the first section (overview video), but today the onramp won't start. It just opens a blank window showing the title "Stateflow Onramp" and nothing else.
I have tried:
  • disconnecting the VPN and reconnecting
  • restarting Matlab
  • restartin the computer
But still it does not work. Any ideas?

One of the matlab processes is hogging up 33% of the CPU. It looks related to stateflow so it's trying to do something but with little success.
