Problem with displaying the colormap

Hi,
I have 6 axes, contain different images. But I want to display only 1 image for the colormap. But when i execute the colormap button, all the other images in the axes, turn into colormap too. How do i solve this problem?
the code:
-----------------------
global z1;
imshow(z1, jet(256));
---------------------
