How to detect a closed connection on a tcpip object

I am using the tcpip object to communicate with a C++ server application. I have a bytesAvailableFcn attached and fread the data in this function. I now have the problem that I am not aware of a possibility to detect when the server has closed the connection. Looking at the traffic with Wireshark, i see that a FIN package is being sent to the matlab application.
How can I detect this situation to properly react with an fclose from the Matlab side?
