load data input from data list

i have a data list
D:\01_AA\A1.dat
D:\01_AA\A2.dat
D:\01_AA\B1.dat
and i used
[data_list]=textread('data_list_set.dat', '%s');
and i want to read data from data_list in workspace. like this...
[A B C D] = textread(data_list(1,:), '%f%f%f%f' );
[A B C D] = textread(data_list(2,:), '%f%f%f%f' );
[A B C D] = textread(data_list(3,:), '%f%f%f%f' );
[A B C D] = textread(data_list(4,:), '%f%f%f%f' );
but it doesn't work.
