2-D plot for vector-matrix-vector

hi everyone,
To analyse my data I quite often need a plot similar to the scatter plot which workes also with 3 non same-size vectors.
what I usually have is a vector(x), a matrix (x,y) and a third vector (y). what I would like to to is plot the vector(x) against matrix (x,y) and then colorcode the data with vector(y). the scatter plot doesn't permit this!
can anyone help me here? cheers, Bernadette
