Multiple 2D grids aligned in a 3D space

I am a geophysicist working onl shallow surface geophysics. We create 2D slices of the ground showing data collected from various surveys. These are generally vertical cross sections (TIFFs) of uneven orientation. The suface topography can be easy diplayed with surf, but how can i add the vertical strucktures (grids) to this plot?
The finish plot should look like that:
