Help interpolating time series

Hi,
I have a time series that measures waves every 3hrs and would like to interpolate it so it measures every hour. I've been trying to do this using interp1 but have been unsuccesful. Please help.

y=sin(x)
xi=[0 0.5 1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4]
method='spline'
yi=interp1(x,y,xi,method)
