L(i,i)=1;
end
for i=2:n
L(i,1)=A(i,1)/A(1,1);
end
for i=3:n
L(i,2)=A(i,2)/A(2,2);
end
for i=4:n
L(i,3)=A(i,3)/A(3,3);
end

Use a nested for loop:
for ii = 1:n
for jj = ii:n
stuff
end
end

[n n]=size(A);
L=zeros(n);
for i=1:n
L(i,i)=1;
end
