In matlab:
x =
1 3 6
8 3 6
1 9 0
y =
5 4 6
7 9 4
2 6 4
Z=x(y)
Z =
3 3 9
6 0 3
8 9 3
How can i find Z manually..........

x is an array with 9 elements. y is a matrix of indices each in the range 1 to 9.
y(1) is 5, so the first output of x(y) is x(y(1)) which is x(5), the fifth element of x. Array elements are numbered down columns
1 4 7
2 5 8
3 6 9
