The link above shows that Allied Vision cameras are supported by both the GigE and GenTL standards. What are the pro's / con's of each of these? They seem to be (x2) interfaces that achieve the same general goals.

I used the imaq toolbox to pilote a IR camera.

After communicated with matlab service, I was sugguested to use gentl interface instead of gige interface. As indicated by a technical service stuff: "We suggested using GenTL is because it frequently avoids these issues as there is a wrapper layer that deals with it.".

However, my camera is a mono16 gige which is not comptible to provide preview and can not be controlled by a gentl interface.
