How to interpret Multi-objective using goal attainment problems in Matlab

Hello,

I am currently working on a multi-objective problem that contains 2 objective functions: 1) Maximization objective function 2) Minimization objective function.

I understand that in Matlab every optimization problem has to be turned into a minimization objective function; therefore, for my 1st objective I multiplied it by a -1 and changed my constraints to adhere to the minimization form.

My question revolves around making the goals and the weights for these functions. Are the goals and weights effected relative to if I am trying to do a maximization of minimization problem?

For instance should both my goals be positive or should one be negative? Does it matter? I would assume that the weights have no relevance if I am using a maximization or minimization problem.
