You can load the model to MATLAB memory by "load_system" command and simulate the model using "sim" command. These commands can be added to a callback of any GUI element. There are many examples available in the file exchange. For example: http://blogs.mathworks.com/pick/2012/06/01/use-matlab-guis-with-simulink-models/
GUI for Simulink Model

I have a huge SIMULINK model and I need to understand how to develop an effective GUI for this model. While simulating the model every time, I just need to change a few parameters and see the output in terms of some other parameters. The model need not be visible all time. So it would be nice if you could tell me how to go about it.
