That's the tradeoff you need to make. There is no free lunch so you just have to find a balance between the two. If you want, you can take a look at Dolph-Chebyshev window, which has the narrowest beamwidth for a given sidelobe level.
window - sidelobe attenuation level

Hello everyone,
I need to use a window function that has adjustable parameters. Kaiser window allows to have a parameters that determines side lobe attenuation level. But when that side lobe attenuation is changed main lobe width also changes to some extent. Is it possible to have a window function (using MATLAB of course) that allows for side lobe adjustment without changing main lobe parameters?
