Fluctuating curves when solving using pdepe

So I have been trying to solve a system of PDEs using pdepe. However, some of the curves when I plot one of the solved variables against x gives me fluctuating cuvres like the one shown here. Is there something that I am doing wrong with my code and is there a reason why I am not getting smooth curves
