performing shear on lines

I have a shear matrix smat=[1 (0.2);0 1]
I used this to shear a couple of circles on a plot but when i tried to use the same method for the lines that attaches to the circles, i get a weird result.heres the code for that.
h1 and h2 are the lines and outputnew should be the line with the shear performed.
h1=output(1:2,:)';
h2=output(3:4,:)';
outputnew(1:2,:)=(h1*smat)';
outputnew(3:4,:)=(h2*smat)';
