setappdate getappdata GUI - help

Hi,
I have a cell array (tableData) in one of the GUI functions and as I wish to use it in another GUI function I use:
setappdate(0,'nData',tableData);
Later in the other other GUI function I use:
cellarray = getappdata(0,'nData');
But it does not work, why?
