data acquisition stops on its own

I am trying to develop a real time data acquisition program in matlab. Sometimes the program stops on its own without giving any error message. When I keep working on matlab with the program running in another window it runs continuously without stopping . But when the PC is idle the program stops without any user intervention. I am unable to figure out the reason for this.
