I have a Macbook Air 2017 model with 128 gb internal storage; unfortunately, most of my storage has been used with only 5 gb available which is not sufficient to download Matlab application. Just yesterday, I bought a Transcend 128 gb SD card to expand my storage but everytime that I try to download onto the SD card, I get an error message "Folder names can only contain alphanumeric characters and '-', '_', '.', or '/'. The destination cannot be named "private". Does anyone know what the error means and if there's a way to download and run Matlab on SD card?

What is the name of the Volume that you are trying to load into?
It is somewhat common for MacOS disk volume names to contain spaces. For example the volume name might be 'Transcend 128g' .
With the current software, MATLAB has trouble with spaces or special characters in volume names.
If this is your situation, the easiest way to deal with it is to first go into Finder -> Preferences to the General tab, and ensure that "Extern disks" is ticked . This will ensure that thumb drives show up on the desktop. Once that is done, find the icon for the thumb drive on the desktop and right-click it, and select Rename, and give it a new name that has only alphanumeric characters.
With that done, you would be more likely to be able to download onto the drive.
