labels are hidden behind the plot

I have a problem in plotting my data, the lables are hidden behind the plots, how can I bring the lables to the frond of the plott please?
The code I am using in labelling the month is:
for uu = 2:length(month)
text(month_x_axis(uu),4,month(uu,:),'FontWeight','bold')
end

what is class(month)?
Why are you using length(month) as the bound instead of size(month, 1)
