not getting a plot

OEW=141.3119;
PAY=60;
SFC=0.29/3600;
g=9.8;
U=[0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40];
P=[32.91428 30.8628 26.5554 23.45806 22.92738 24.98139 29.61881 36.97433 47.2849];
U_by_P= U./P;
R=(U_by_P).*((MTOW-OEW-PAY)./(g.*SFC));
plot(U_by_P,PAY,'r')

PAY is a single number........you cannot plot like that...
use:
plot(U_by_P,PAY,'.r')

by doing this i am getting small small points ......how can i make it as a line ( continous line)
