problem with xlswrite function

Hello everybody. I have an array of numbers called "a" which contains some integer values from -2 to 2; If I write
disp(a);
I see in the matlab window all its values but with
xlswrite('data.xls', a, 1, 'H2:H102');
Every value is turned to 0. How this is possible?

This works just fine for me:
a = randi(5, [101,1])-3
disp(a);
xlswrite('data.xls', a, 1, 'H2:H102');
I see all the numbers in Excel like I expect.
