matlabからpythonの関数に行列を渡す

MatlabからPythonのtest関数に引数を渡したいと思っています。
arg1=1 又は arg1=[1,2,3] の場合は動作することは確認しています。
しかし、以下のようにarg1を設定した場合、エラー(ModuleNotFoundError:No module named 'libmwbuffer')になりました。
行列を引数に渡すのは無理でしょうか。
arg1=[1,2,3; 4,5,6; 7,8,9];
pyout = py.sample.test(arg1);
