Savign specific workspace variables in a new location

I have a very long code, with many different workspace variables, however there are only 5 relveant ones (call them, x, y, z, j & i) that I would like to save in a folder in a different file path, how does one go about this?

It's going to be difficult if not impossible to determine why it's importing the entire workspace without seeing your code.
When you call save I recommend specifying the names of the variables you're interested in saving. When you call load I recommend specifying an output argument so the loaded data becomes fields of that struct variable rather than potentially overwriting variables in the workspace that happen to have the same name as a variable in the MAT-file.
