What combination of options in pattern search optimization usually yields the best results?

I'm running an optimization with 66 variables. I've tried many combinations of options using psoptimset to get the best possible result. The results thus far have been good, but I'm quite sure that better results can be obtained. Is there a documentation which provides some rules of thumb for fine tuning the options of the PS? I understand that it will vary from case to case but some fundamental rules must be existing. The Mathworks documentation alone is not adequately helpful.
