Triggering referenced models in Simulink

I try to trigger a referenced model but I get the following error message: "Model" has multiple sample times. Only constant (inf) or inherited (-1) sample times are allowed in function call subsystem.
From what I've read triggered blocks must have inhereted solve time (-1). After setting the sample time of referenced model to (-1) I get the following error message:
Invalid FixedStep specified in the Configuration Parameters dialog for block diagram
Is there any documentation that can guide me to proper implementation of triggered models?

Thank you, you helped me find the answer.
In Configuration Parameters/Solver I had to set the Periodic sample time constraint to "Ensure sample time independent"
