calling Matlab executable that returns array from VBA

My matlab function returns an array. I created an exe of the file and want to call it from VBA excel. Is there a function that can get the array from this executable. I know that the Shell command returns an integer.

@Piyush, an easy alternative is to write the data into a text file, from MATLAB, and read this file from VBA. Otherwise IPC may be involved/required.
Files could be replaced by sockets.
