[mean_face, mean_data] = meanX(raw_data);
raw_data is a matrx of zeros with double images taken from a multitude of tif files

This calls the meanX function with raw_data as input and returns two outputs. We can speculate as to what meanX does from its name, but to be more confident about what it does you'd need to either look at its help text (it does have help text, right?), read and understand the code, or ask the author.

Okay thanks for this, it does not have a help text because the term meanx is unknown to MATLAB and SciLabs. I will contact the author for the meaning of the expression thanks again
