Not sure exactly what you mean...You can use hist() if I am understanding the question correctly.
As an example, if you had a matrix A as follows:
A = [ 1 1 1 3 4 5 7];
In order to find the number of times that each unique value appears you would use hist() as follows:
[N,X] = hist(A, unique(A))
N = 3 1 1 1 1
X = 1 3 4 5 7
Where N is what I assume you refered to as the coefficient (# of times each value appears), and X is the value from A associated with that count.
