When I try to activate my license, I receive an error 956 and cannot continue. Why am I encountering this message?

This error occurs when trying to activate a network license in the activation client. For a network license, only the license server machine is activated. The client installations are not activated.
To avoid this error, exit the activation client and save a copy of your license server's license.dat file into the $MATLABROOT\licenses folder (where $MATLABROOT is the directory where MATLAB is installed).
