Is it possible to hide the characters I type in MATLAB so that they are not displayed on the screen?

I would like to have the ability to input characters into MATLAB without the characters being displayed on the screen. I can use this for entering passwords.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
There is no built-in function in MATLAB to hide characters that are typed in. However, there is a function "passcode.m" in MATLAB Central that can achieve this in an input dialog box. You can download this function from the following page:
