This Live Script explores sensor data from a mobile phone attached to a physical pendulum and uses signal processing techniques to find the oscillation frequency. The script is similar to Mobile Phone Rotational Dynamics Explorer [1] but explores oscillatory motion rather than uniform angular acceleration and provides a look at 72 data fields provided by Apple CoreMotion and other on-board processing elements.
This script may interest students and instructors in physics and related fields. Interactive 'Try this' suggestions with controls, several data samples, and 'Challenges' requiring some research and coding are included.
