This Live Script illustrates one way of making a parametric three-dimensional solid bowl surface. The illustrative surface comprises nested parabolic inner and outer surfaces of different curvature and relative elevation joined to make a flat or tapered brim. A mesh of the combined surfaces is exported as an STL file.
This script may interest students and instructors in physics and related fields interested in creating solid objects with shapes governed by parameters for structural analysis comparison, and others simply interested in bowl designs.
