Are you looking for a summer 2025 UX Research internship? 

Join our dynamic and innovative UX teamWe're dedicated to crafting clear and effective user experiences for technical software products used by scientists and engineers around the globe. We are seeking a motivated individual to work with members of a cross-functional development team to conduct user research and provide user insights to inform design decisions. 

As an intern, you will receive a combination of practical experience and training in a work environment that fosters and rewards cooperation, teamwork, learning, and fun. This internship will prepare you for a career at MathWorks starting in our Engineering Development Group (EDG). 

Responsibilities

As a UX Research intern you will: 

  • Conduct user research and analyse user workflows to inform product strategy and direction. 

  • Execute a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods such as, but not limited to, user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and card sorting. 

  • Act as an advocate for our technical users by identifying user pains and providing research-based recommendations for design decisions. 

  • Help the Development team interpret and understand user feedback and contribute to requirements and design documents. 

  • Research and showcase knowledge in current industry trends and technologies. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a master's level or a PhD level degree in a technical discipline.

Additional Qualifications

  • STEM Degree (e.g., Information Design, Data Modeling, Computer Graphics, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, CAD Design, Architecture, Statistics, Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, or other relevant degree)
  • Knowledge of user-centered design, UX research methods, human-computer interaction research (HCI) or experimental design. 

  • Experience with research and collaboration tools (e.g., UserZoom, Optimal Workshop, Miro). 

  • Programming experience in any programming language is a plus (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python, C++, Java, JS, etc.). 

  • 3 months full-time commitment.
