Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Mechanical to Acoustic Converter block provides an interface between the mechanical translational and acoustic domains. The block converts between mechanical force and acoustic pressure. The following equations describe the converter:

F=Sd⋅PU=Sd⋅v

where:

  • F is the force (N) flowing through the mechanical ports.

  • P is the pressure (Pa) across the acoustic ports.

  • U is the volume velocity (m3/s) flowing through the acoustic ports.

  • v is the velocity (m/s) across the mechanical ports.

  • Sd is the constant of proportionality with equivalent units of area (m2).

The Mechanical to Acoustic Converter block represents a lossless energy conversion, so the same constant of proportionality is used in both equations.

The conserving acoustic ports + and - correspond to the positive and negative terminals of the converter, respectively. R and C are the conserving mechanical translational ports.
