Interactive Model Editing
Create, format, navigate, and search Simulink models
Learn how to build and edit models in the Simulink® editing environment. Discover techniques, tips, and shortcuts you can use to work in Simulink.
For an introduction to Simulink, try the self-paced interactive Simulink Onramp tutorial and Get Started with Simulink.
For information about how to run a model and view the results, see Simulation. For information about how to share, reuse, standardize, print, and protect the confidentiality of model content, see Collaborative Model Editing.
You can also create, edit, and test models programmatically. To learn more, see Programmatic Model Editing.

Format Models
- Configure Model Layout
Change the arrangement, orientation, and size of blocks. - Group Blocks into Subsystems
Use subsystems to organize large models. - Group Signals or Messages into Virtual Buses
Create buses to reduce the number of lines in a block diagram. - Configure Model Element Names and Labels
Hide and display block names, label signal lines, change text font and color. - Annotate Models
Use text, hyperlinks, equations, images, and tables to label sections of a model. - Configure Model Style Elements
Change model fonts and colors. - Customize Block Icons
Use Masks to give blocks custom covers. - Visually Organize Models Using Area Annotations
Use areas and images to visually compartmentalize the model.
Navigate Models
- Navigate Model Hierarchy
Navigate model hierarchy using the Explorer Bar and Model Browser. - Bookmark Your Place in Models
Use Viewmarks to save and return to views in complex models.
Search for Models, Model Contents, and Simulink Editor Actions
