Exporting data from dSPACE to matlab/Simulink

Hi all, we are having trouble using the dSPACE control desk. we're trying to export an output signal from a certain system connected to dspace. in the dSPACE control desk we can see the counts change as the machine moves (as it should be). but when trying to see the action in simulink we are having no luck. we tried to connect a scope block to the output, but no signal is captured. any ideas?
