Reconstruction of torn images

I have a assignment torn paper scanned in a single image. I want to add the torn pieces automatically by edge detecting,extracting each pieces from the scanned image, matching their boundary and joining. (Example file included.)
I tried region growing and split & merge functions but unable to implement it. So please help me asap.

Nothing built in to MATLAB, but there are lots of papers on it. See this link:

Thanks for Your precious answer sir, but i am going out of schedule so if get what exactly need to use in order to get result matter most.
