Figures, and windows buttons does not work

After plotting a few normal figures (i.e. plot (x,y), semilog(x,y),etc...) none of the buttons of the MATLAB GUI to handle the figures seems to work. I can not press the zoom buttons, the hand, the button to visualize data, to open the full figure editor, anything! And else, any of the buttons of the rest of the MATLAB environment seems to have crashed and does not answer to the mouse click. The only solution I find is to close everything and restart the program. This is becoming really annoying and does not allow me to work properly. I'm using R2013b with kubuntu 13.10
Please, any help concerning this will be really appreciated. If you need more information about this problem, please let me know.
