how to specify synchronous generator current

I'm struggling to simulate a synchronous generator and supply a field voltage (DC) to its input in simulation but unfortunately after applying its field current is very high amount for my case that is pn=2MVA and vn=400line-line. In this situation I don't know this current is real or no Because in my project for excitation system I need a small current. If someone knows regarding this subject please tell me this urgently for me
