I get a Nullpointer exception when i try to start matlab2014a in mac osx 10.10.2
I have set read and write premisions to ~/.matlab and reinstalling matlab but I still get the same error.

solution found: Had to run this patch: http://www.mathworks.com/support/bugreports/1098655
