Why does a license show up as "unknown" in output of "ver"?

When I do the command "ver" or "ver -support" in MATLAB, my license is listed as unknown somewhere. How do I resolve this?
What does this mean? How do I determine whether to provide support or not?

Licenses for products can appear as "unknown" in "ver" output for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to the following reasons:
The product in question...
  • Has expired in the license file
  • Is not in the license file
  • Belongs to a different license than expected
  • Has been moved to a different license
  • The toolbox cache needs to be refreshed. This can be accomplished by running "rehash toolboxcache" in the MATLAB Command Window.
To update the license file for an Individual or Designated Computer license, see the link below.
How do I update my MATLAB license file for an Individual or Designated Computer license?
Network-based licenses must be updated on the Network License Manager. New license files can be generated from the License Center.
License Center
You may also find more information about the license in general from the License Center. This will not display the information about your license file on your local machine. If you'd like to find your local license file, see the link below.
