Figure size and fonts are different with or without GUI in Linux...

Hi all,
I am running Matlab2011a on Linux. What I do is repeatedly saving figures without creating them (i.e., with Visible property set off). I do this in two different ways. One is log in fro SecureCRT, therefore run Matlab without GUI. The other is log in from Xwin, and run matlab with GUI.
With exactly the same code, the figures generated look totally different ( size, font size, and etc).
Does anything have any experience how this could happen and how to deal with this problem?

Does one of your setups do not call matlabrc which calls hgrc implicitely? If so, try to run hgrc in each session and compare the results again.

It appears some of MATLAB figure generation depends on fonts included with X. On Arch Linux I needed to install some xorg-fonts* packages. You might not have access to those fonts if you are not running (or forwarding) X.
