A general question of matrix to matrix

Hello buddies,

I have 2 matrices:

 a = [ 1 2 3; 4 5 6 ]
 b = [ 9 9 9; 9 9 9 ]

I'm wondering if there is a function, or an CPU non-burdensome way to get the following result:

c = [ 1 9 2 9 3 9 ; 4 9 5 9 6 9 ]

Right now I do it with for loop, but it take ALOT of time!

Any help will be very appreciated, thanks.

reshape( [a; b], [2 6] )

with obvious generalisations for different sizes of vector and assumptions on a and b having the same dimensions
