Including a MIMO example would be great!

@Greg: Unfortunately I cannot answer this question. I will be surprised if anyone else can, except for the programmers of this tool. Did you try to contact them already?

No I haven't. I was expecting them to respond to this post.
Currently I am having computer difficulties and haven't pursued it any further than what I have already posted

Hi Greg The development team say that training with a genetic algorithm is not supported by the toolbox. I'm so sorry to hear about your frustration, but that workaround for R2009b is not supported now. We can file an enhancement request. Unfortunately we don't have any useful information we could share with you now.

This is not a formal Documentation example of course, it is a correction of code that was posted in 2013 by Mathworks Support to demonstrate neural net learning via GA.
