How to copy tab text in variable editor

On some occasions, in the variable editor, due to some mouse mis-click, I find that the text contained in one of the tabs is selected - so that I can copy it to the clipboard if I want to. However I don't know what combination of mouse clicks causes this. It would be useful to be able to copy the tab text (ex: a.long.variable.name).
Is there a documented way to select the tab text and copy it?
Thank You.

OK, I find that if I double-click on the variable name (below the tabs on the line with the small square grey box), then it gets selected and I can copy it. However, that seems to be the only way I can copy it. I have to double-click on the variable name and not to the right of it as I was doing earlier.

I'm not sure what you are doing, but in the variable editor I can simply right click on the name of the tab (name of the variable) and its contents to copy it.
Perhaps a screen shot helps to understand, what your problem is. What do you want to copy from where?

Sorry for the late reply. The screenshot below shows the variables opened with the right click menu of the last tab. There does not seem to be any option to copy the name "st_baseline.gcs.strengths.dir".
However, if I double click on the line directly below the tabs (with the small grey square box and the text "st_baseline.gcs.strengths.dir") and drag my mouse to the left simultaneously, I am sometimes able to select text that is directly below the tabs. Oddly it does not always happen.
Right clicking on the line with the small grey square box does not do anything either.
