How would one estimate camera parameters without resorting to the use of a checkerboard image?

The camera which was used to take the images is no longer in my possession and therefore I cannot use checkerboard images to estimate its parameters. The pictures I do have are very complex patterns i.e. with depth and various shapes. If there are numerous steps then I am willing to learn, I just am not sure where exactly to begin.
