Hello everyone. I am new to the Matlab study, specifically I am focused on Histogram difference. I have been studying an article related to Key Frame, the name of the article is the following: (Dichangsheng Wang, Ju Liu; Jiande Sun; Wei Liu; Yujun Li, "A novel key-frame extraction method for semi-automatic 2D-to-3D video conversion", IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting, June 2012, pp.1-5.). My question is the following.
Nb N
his_- diff(t) =1/Nb | H t,k (i) - H t+1,k(i)|
K=1 i=1
where Nb is the number of blocks in each frame divided in the spatial space, N is the number of bins in histogram, and H t,k(·) donates the histogram of the kth block in the tth frame. hist diff(·) is the final histogram difference and the higher this value is, the more likely this frame is to be the shot boundary. In our experiments, Nb and N are set to 4 and 64, respectively.
1. How to implement this equation in Matlab?
2. How to calculate the number of Blocks in each Frame?
That equation is the most optimal to calculate Histogram Difference, or could someone recommend me another one?
forgive my ignorance and low knowledge in this field.
Thank you all.

The outer sum over K=1:Nb is useless here, because the argument does not depend on K at all. The meaning of "his_- diff(t)" is not clear. Is it the same as "hist diff(·) is the final histogram difference"?
It is unlikely that the members of the forum spend the time for reading and understanding your paper, because this is your turn.
