Matlab R2018a Memory Error: Ubuntu 18.04 vs Windows 10?

Running a script on Ubuntu 18.04 yields "out of memory" errors while the same script runs flawlessly on Windows 10. Both machines are equipped with 32gb of RAM. Des Matlab handle memory more efficiently in Windows 10 and what I can do to ensure that my data is processed the same way in Ubuntu.

This is not an answer to the question regarding difference Win 10 and Ubuntu. Can you please provide a helpful answer for future reference as this is a common google restult.

@Tobias Schindler perhaps that is why it was posted as a comment. I do that sometimes as well; if I don't know the answer but know something related, I post that in a comment. Sometimes that is enough of a hint for the OP to find a solution.
